"What is MDL Repair?

Some versions of aircraft models have a problem with the way the visual model has been stored inside the MDL file when the model is bigger than 64K. When an aircraft with this problem is loaded in Flight Simulator you usually get the message:

"Unable to load visual model"

MDL files are actually DLLs, which are loaded by the operating system in the same way as all other executable code. The problem arises because the operating system DLL loader for Microsoft Windows NT 4, 2000, and XP does not like the incorrect data in the MDL file, but the loader for Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me just ignores it.

MDL Repair will correct the problem data stored in the MDL files, to ensure that it can be properly loaded on NT, 2000 and XP. Note that the program does not run on Windows 95/98/Me because it is not needed, and that the program makes use of facilities that are only available on NT/2000/XP. However, any fixed MDLs will still function perfectly on Windows 95/98/Me."

How to install

After downloading, unpack (unzip) the file into the folder where you installed Air Man. Once you have put this file in the Air Man folder, you will be able to Scan each aircraft's MDL by going to Aircraft options>Tools tab>Scan and repair MDL. All MDLs will also be checked during the aircraft scanning.

SOFTWARE PRODUCT LICENSE The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as other intellectual property laws and treaties. The SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed, not sold. 1. GRANT OF LICENSE. This EULA grants you the following rights: Software Product. You may install and use the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on an unlimited number of computers, including workstations, terminals or other digital electronic devices ("COMPUTERS") to design, develop, and test software application products that are designed to operate in conjunction with Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 and subsequent versions thereof, ("Application") and FCP Products Air Man 2002 and subsequent versions thereof ("Air Man"). * Distribution Terms. You may reproduce and distribute an unlimited number of copies of the files you create or modify using SOFTWARE PRODUTCT (a)only operate in conjunction with Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 and subsequent versions thereof,; (b) you distribute your files containing an End-User License Agreement (which may be "break-the-seal", "click-wrap" or signed), with terms no less protective than those contained herein; (c) you do not use FCP Products's name, logo, or trademarks to market your files; (d) you include a valid copyright notice on your files; and (e) you agree to indemnify, hold harmless, and defend FCP Products, Microsoft and Dave Parsons from and against any claims or lawsuits, including attorneys' fees, that arise or result from the use or distribution of your Application. 2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS. Limitations on Reverse Engineering, Decompilation, and Disassembly. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, except and only to the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation. Rental. You may not rent, lease or lend the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. Distribution. You may not re-dirstribute SOFTWARE PRODUCT without author's written approval, excep fallowing internet sites that are allowed to re-distribute SOFTWARE PRODUCT: www.simviation.com; www.flight-sim.com Software Transfer. You may permanently transfer all of your rights under this EULA, provided you retain no copies, you transfer all of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT (including all component parts, the media and printed materials, any upgrades, this EULA, and, if applicable, the Certificate of Authenticity) and the recipient agrees to the terms of this EULA. If the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is an upgrade, any transfer must include all prior versions of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. Termination. Without prejudice to any other rights, FCP Products may terminate this EULA if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this EULA. In such event, you must destroy all copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT and all of its component parts. 3. COPYRIGHT. All title and intellectual property rights in and to the SOFTWARE PRODUCT (including but not limited to any images, photographs, animations, video, audio, music, text, and "applets" incorporated into the SOFTWARE PRODUCT), the accompanying printed materials, and any copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT are owned by FCP Products or its suppliers. All title and intellectual property rights in and to the content which may be accessed through use of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is the property of the respective content owner and may be protected by applicable copyright or other intellectual property laws and treaties. This EULA grants you no rights to use such content. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by FCP Products and Dave Parsons. The software products is Copyright Dave Parsons, 2002. All rights reserved. 4. EXPORT RESTRICTIONS. You agree that you will not export or re-export the SOFTWARE PRODUCT, any part thereof, or any process or service that is the direct product of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT (the foregoing collectively referred to as the "Restricted Components"), to any country, person or entity subject to U.N. export restrictions. You specifically agree not to export or re-export any of the Restricted Components: (i) to any country to which the U.N. has embargoed or restricted the export of goods or services or to any national of any such country, wherever located, who intends to transmit or transport the Restricted Components back to such country; (ii) to any person or entity who you know or have reason to know will utilize the Restricted Components in the design, development or production of nuclear, chemical or biological weapons. 5. EDITING FILES THAT ARE NOT CRATED BY YOUR SELF. You agree that you will not breach any copyright that is protecting files edited using SOFTWARE PRODUCT. You do not have premission to edit any copyrigted material without approwal by owner. MISCELLANEOUS If you acquired this product in the United States, this EULA is governed by the laws of the State of Washington. If you acquired this product in Canada, this EULA is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Each of the parties hereto irrevocably attorns to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario and further agrees to commence any litigation which may arise hereunder in the courts located in the Judicial District of York, Province of Ontario. If this product was acquired outside the United States, then local law may apply.
